SETTING YOUR PREFERENCES

By now you have installed your PSP and are wandering well what the heck do I do now? lol  The first thing we should do is customize PSP to suit your needs.  The screen shots shown below are setting for me, they are what I am comfortable with but the numbers could change and/or vary for each person.  If you would like, for now you can set them like mine and reset them later when you are a bit more familiar with the program and all of it's little toys.

Start by going to FILE then to PREFERENCES, GENERAL as seen on the right.  This will open the preferences dialog box.

Enable the undo system Should be checked unless you are realllly brave lol.
Limit undo usage to XX is one that is totally up to you.  Obviously if you have 10 MB puter you don't want to set that at 11 MB lol.I just have the default myself and that is fine for me. You can always change it later. <S>
Limit undo/redo to XX steps Again I have the default which should be sufficient for just about anyone.
Compress undo/redo info Personally this one should NOT be checked unless you start experiencing problems then you can check it, although it does save disk space it slows PSP down considerably.
Enable the redo This is a must check !  It allows you to "redo" an "undo" LOL  Sounds corny but you will understand why shortly.

Enable Filters This is a must check to if at anytime you plan or want to use filters.  We will cover filters in more depth later in the lessons.
Include subfolders when..  YES !  This allows you to organize your filters.  It will slow ya down a bit but it is worth it to keep your filters organized.
Limit plug-in-files to 8B?..  Yes again.. this is important because that is the only extension that PSP will recognize.
Enable autofile format Leave this disabled.  I don't really know much about it but MY teacher of PSP says it can cause errors.
Folder 1, 2, 3 This is where you tell PSP to grab your filters from.  I personally have mine installed OUTSIDE of PSP.  Then by having the folder names in each area PSP will get it. My reasoning for that is when you load PSP after you get about 10,002 filters like me rofl it really weights PSP down and slows it because it loads them each time you start it.  By storing them OUT of PSP you will not have this problem.

**** For those who do not know how to do this it is very simple.  Here is a walkthrough if you would like to use it and do it now with the step by step instructions .   If you already know how then just proceed onward for some other form of torture from Bonesy.  lol
